GS1 Europe is the regional body that brings together the 27 European national Member Organisations of GS1. GS1, the global, independent membership organisation, delivers the standards for supply and demand chain management based on bar coding, electronic business messaging, data synchronisation and Radio Frequency Identification technology through its EPCglobal division.
The European Healthcare Initiative is GS1 Europe’s flagship project to drive and support adoption of GS1 standards into the healthcare supply chains of Europe, from the point of manufacture for medical devices and pharmaceutical products through to the point of use at the patient bedside or in the community.
You can find accurate information about EPC in Europe by visiting EPCglobal Europe's website.
Learn about the GS1 Europe EPCglobal Project (EEP) and the European Adoption Programme (EAP) on this special website (not specific to Healthcare). See the list of the EPCglobal Subscribers in Europe. Contact names and plenty of useful information are provided to interested parties.
The EPCglobal Network is a framework that enables immediate, automatic identification and sharing of information on items in the supply chain. Using RFID and the internet, and harnessing the power of current information systems, the EPCglobal Network will provide for immediate, automatic and accurate identification and location of any item in the supply chain of any company, in any industry, anywhere in the world. The potential benefits of its widespread use in European healthcare are vast.
