Factors to facilitate the completition

The successful completion of the project will be facilitated by the following factors, which pertain to haemophilia care in Ireland.

	All patients receive recombinant FVIII and FIX which is purchased centrally and enters the country through a single source;
	A single comprehensive care centre serves the population and co-ordinates home treatment;
	The size of the haemophilia population is significant but is sufficiently limited to allow completion of the project (approximately 300 patients have severe/moderate FVIII or FIX deficiency);
	Designated staff have been identified to lead this project and detailed specifications have been completed.

The plan is to run the pilot during 3 to 6 months. Then, by integrating the necessary updates, the software solutions will be assessed and certifyed.
The project will concentrate in the supply chain in Ireland, to secure adequate deliveries and stock optimisation, in full respect of cool chain and patient safety.
The project organisation covers both the information flow and the physical flow. At the present stage, the completion of the labelling will be made on the incoming goods, when entering in Ireland. After project completion and validation, manufacturers will be encouraged to label their products with the bar code containing the full set of traceability information required, such as batch number, expiry date and serial number.
